Parliament will resume its business today after the weekend recess. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are scheduled to take up discussion on Motion of Thanks to President Ram Nath Kovind's joint sitting of Parliament. It will be the last week of the first part of Budget Session after which both the Houses will go on nearly month-long recess and resume from 5th of March this year.
During the session, the government will give a fresh push for passage of the Triple Talaq legislation and a bill seeking constitutional
status for the OBC Commission. The government has said it will leave no stone unturned to ensure the passage of the Bills in Rajya Sabha and will talk to various parties to bring about consensus on the issue.
On the other hand, the opposition parties have planned to counter the government on issues concerning farmers, Dalits, youth and plight of traders. United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi called for opposition unity on issues of national importance in Parliament.
