The Parsi community of Mumbai celebrated Navroz along with Independence Day yesterday. Navroz which means ‘New Day’ is Parsi New Year Day, when the Parsi families come together, honour their heritage, and embrace new beginnings. The Pateti prayers were held in Fire temples yesterday night in Mumbai. People went to the Fire Temple after breakfast and offered prayer known as Jashan, thanking the Lord and seeking



blessings.

The ancient festival signifies the arrival of spring and symbolizes renewal and rebirth. It is a period of repentance and people pray for forgiveness of their sins. People have decorated their homes with flowers, and rangolis and offered sandalwood. Navroz is observed on the first date of Farvardin and this year is marked as 1394 according to the Zoroastrian calendar
