The Assam Government withdrew a notice which has been issued without approval of the government, by the Director of Higher Education regarding the Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC). The Director of Higher Education issued the notification for the appointment of Assistant Professors, Librarians, and Grade III and Grade IV posts in colleges stating that PRC is not mandatory for these



posts. 

Following this, Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu said that the notice was issued by the Director of Higher Education without approval of the government. Reacting it, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared to do an inquiry into the matter. He mentioned that such a circular could only have been issued by the government and not by a directorate.
