Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the nodal agency governing civil aviation rules in India, has made it mandatory for pilots to serve one-year-long notice period before relinquishing their jobs.
Co-pilots will have to serve 6 months' notice period, according to the new rules.
The DGCA has said that any attempt to circumvent these new rules would be seen as going against public

interest and the accused shall be subject to being debarred either permanently or temporarily from holding a license or rating, as has been enunciated in sub rule (2) of rule 39(A) of the Aircraft Rules, 1937.

DGCA has made these changes after it said that pilots were resigning without any prior notice, leaving airlines in the lurch, leading to abrupt flight cancellations.
