Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said her father, late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, inherited martyrdom from his mother, late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Morena, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "My father was brought into pieces. I sent my father to you safely, and you returned him in pieces. But gradually I understood the meaning of martyrdom. I know what martyrdom
means."
"When people stand on the stage and accuse my father of changing some law to take the inheritance from them. My father did not get wealth as an inheritance, but the feeling of martyrdom. You can understand this feeling because you have sent your sons to the border. But Modi ji will not understand this feeling," she added.
She said that she met some families of bravehearts, who died in the Pulwama attack in 2019, in Uttar Pradesh. She revealed that the children whom she met harboured dreams of joining the armed forces one day.
