New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the scientific community to work on subjects that meet the increasing needs of India.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the 108th Indian Science Congress in Nagpur through video conferencing he said, the scientific community should work on innovation to meet India's energy requirements.
Mr Modi also said, the increasing participation of women is a reflection of the progress of society and Science. The Prime Minister said, Data and Technology can take India's
science to new heights.
The theme of this year's Indian Science Congress is 'Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment'. During the five-day event, the participants will discuss and deliberate on ways to increase the number of women in higher echelons of teaching, research and industry.
A special programme to showcase the contribution of women in science and technology will also be held, which will also witness lectures by renowned women scientists.
