Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and his Council of Ministers. In a tweet, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the new team of Rio led government, which is a blend of youth and experience, will continue the good governance trajectory of Nagaland and fulfill the people’s aspirations.
Yesterday, NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio took oath as the Chief Minister of Nagaland for the fifth term, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was administered the oath of office by Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima.
T R Zeliang of NDPP and Y Patton of BJP also took oath as the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
This is the first time that the state of Nagaland is having two Deputy Chief Ministers.
Nine councils of Ministers were also administered the oath by Governor La. Ganesan. State BJP President Temjen Imna Along, former Rajya Sabha MP K G Kenye were among the nine Ministers inducted. Salhoutuonuo Kruse, a first time woman MLA from NDPP and one of the two women elected to the Nagaland Assembly, also scripted history by being inducted as a cabinet minister in the Rio led new government.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J P Nadda, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma were among the dignitaries who attended the swearing in ceremony.
