Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with Directors General and Inspectors General of Police from across the country at their annual conference. Prime Minister held discussions on specific security and policing issues with them. 

The conference is being held at a tent city set up near the statue of the country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Statue of Unity. 

An official press release said, Mr Modi witnessed presentations and discussions on various subjects relating to security which were held through the day. Over meals, Prime minister held discussions with select groups of officers on specific security and policing issues.

The discussions will continue today. Mr Modi will also release a commemorative stamp on National Police Memorial and launch the portal of Cyber Coordination Centre. 

Prime Minister will present President's Police Medals for distinguished service to IB officers and address the gathering.

At the Statue of Unity, Mr Modi witnessed a vibrant parade,



featuring various police and paramilitary forces, which showcased the theme of "Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat" and also paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel. 

Prime minister also urged people to visit the world's tallest statue which was unveiled on October 31. 

Mr Modi said, Sardar Patel's contribution towards building the framework of the nation's security system is immense. Home Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the three-day conference on Thursday.

Prime minister Narendra Modi will today address the national convention of BJP's Mahila Morcha at Trimandir near Adalaj village in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. The two-day meeting of BJP women's wing workers was inaugurated yesterday by Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman. 

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sitharaman said, BJP always honoured women and made all efforts to empower them.

Women workers and leaders from various states and union territories are participating in the Rastriya Mahila Adiveshan.
