Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised the importance of cleanliness saying that it was the most important aspect of Mahatma Gandhi's life. 

Addressing a public rally at Rajkot in Gujarat last evening, Mr Modi said, if Gandhiji had to choose between cleanliness and freedom, he would choose cleanliness first, such was his commitment towards cleanliness. 

The Prime Minister also asserted that sanitation coverage in the country had increased manifold under his four-year-old government. He said, it has increased to 95 per cent, from mere 35 per cent in 2014.

Mr Modi inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Museum in Rajkot. He said, the museum will help spread awareness about Gandhian culture, values and philosophy. 

During his day-long visit to Gujarat Mr Modi inaugurated a number of projects worth over 7000 crore rupees.

Food Processing Units and Chocolate plants of Amul dairy inaugurated at Anand will boost the rural economy for the farmers of Central Gujarat, while LNG terminal at Mundra Port and Gas transmission pipeline will help to boost the industrialization in Kutch region and Rajasthan. 

Mr. Modi has also inaugurated power sub-stations and road projects in Kutch and housing project for poor in Rajkot, but the launch of  Mujkuva Solar Energy Cooperative Group in Anand district was a new initiative of cooperative model in energy sector. 

Started with 11 farmers with the help of NDDB, the farmers will produce solar energy along with other farm produce. 

These farmers not only get the solar energy for their own use, but they sell the surplus electricity to the power company and earn extra income. 

This cooperative model in solar power generation is all set to be successful in long run.
