Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes for the holy month of Ramzan.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Ramzan gives an important message of serving the needy and underprivileged.
He said, it also reaffirms the importance of equality, brotherhood and compassion.
The fasting month of Ramzan has begun across the country from today.
The worshippers offered special night prayers called "Traweeh", on a reduced-scale last night
adhering to Covid guidelines while in states under lockdown and curfew restrictions, peoples offered prayers at their homes.
Several Muslim clerics and scholars have appealed to Muslims to follow Covid norms and protocols during Ramzan issued by the government.
Ramzan is the ninth month of Islamic calender and Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated at the culmination of this month.
In Kerala, holy month of Ramzan began yesterday.
