Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus at Jamnagar, Gujarat last evening.

Both dignitaries had met at the foundation stone laying ceremony of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine.

The Prime Minister tweeted that it is always a delight to meet Dr.Tedros and exchange notes on further strengthening the health sector. Mr Modi said, Mr Tedros always cherishes the influence of Indian teachers on his life and today, he got a lot of praise for his Gujarati skills too.  

Mr. Modi yesterday laid the foundation stone of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar in



the presence of the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and WHO chief.

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering and Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba conveyed their greetings through a video message for WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar aims to bring ancient wisdom and modern science together. He said, the centre should develop the holistic treatment protocol for specific diseases so that patients can benefit from both modern and traditional medicines.
