Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited Morbi district in Gujarat where a cable bridge collapse claimed over 130 lives. The British-era suspension bridge collapsed into the Machchu river on Sunday, days after it reopened after renovation.

PM Modi, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, visited the incident site in Morbi, while the search and rescue



operation is underway in the Machchhu river.

Several people were injured in the bridge collapse mishap. PM Modi visited the Morbi civil hospital where the injured are undergoing treatment. PM Modi was seen asking after the patients' health.

The prime minister also met people who were involved in rescue and relief operations following the tragedy in Morbi.
