Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold delegation-level talk with Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas in New Delhi today. Palestine President is on a four day State visit to India. He will be given a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Abbas will lay wreath at Mahatma Gandhi's Samadhi, Rajghat.
In the evening, President Pranab Mukherjee will host a banquet in honour of the visiting dignitary. Yesterday, Palestine President Addressing an event at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi said, India is a significant nation in the international arena and Palestine is looking forward for continued support from India.
He also said that India
has good relations with both Palestine and Israel and it can play a big role in peace in the region.India and Palestine enjoy historically close and friendly ties. India has always played a proactive role in garnering support for the Palestinian cause in multilateral flora.
Apart from the political support, India continues to support developmental projects in Palestine by extending technical and financial assistance.
The visit of President Mahmoud Abbas will provide an opportunity for reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations, regional and international issues. MoUs on cooperation in various sectors are also expected to be signed today.
