Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Guwahati to take stock of flood situation of Assam and a few other North Eastern states. Assam Principal Secretary of Home L S Changsan said that Prime Minister will chair a series of high level meetings to review the flood situation and the relief operations.
Ms. Changsan said that Chief Ministers and senior officials of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur will attend meetings. She said that Prime Minister will also meet public representatives of Assam.
Prime Minister has already announced 2 lakh rupees each for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives in the floods in Assam. 82 persons died due to flood this year in Assam. Mr Modi also announced 50 thousand rupees each from the
Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for those seriously injured.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold meetings with the Chief Ministers and senior officials of four North Eastern states in Guwahati today. Flood water affected nearly 30 lakh people in 29 districts in Assam .
Flood water also submerged huge crop land , wildlife parks and damaged infrastructures. An inter ministerial team has already visited Assam to assess the damages caused by flood and erosion. The Assam government submitted a memorandum to the team assessing the initial loss to the tune of nearly three thousand crore rupees.
The state government is likely to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister today.
