In Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking part in a programme of laying the foundation stone of rural drinking water supply projects in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts of Vindhyachal region in state through video conferencing.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the drinking water project will not only provide clean water to the people here but it will also save them from various diseases which are due to contaminated water.
He said said as of now after independence only 398 villages were connected with water facility and it will
be a historic step when 2995 villages in these two district will get drinking water through pipe.
Mr Modi interacted with Foolmati a members of Paani Samiti of the districts.
State government spokesperson told that there will be 9 water treatment projects costing Rs. 2,343 crores in Mirzapur district and 14 projects costing Rs. 3,212 crores in Sonbhadra district.
More than 21,87,000 population of Mirzapur district and 1,95,300 population of Sonbhadra district will be benefitted by these drinking water projects.
