Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day visit to Gujarat today to launch ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme. He will also flag off a ‘Dandi March’ from Sabarmati Ashram on the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s historic Dandi march of 1930.
The ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme will be celebrated on a large-scale to mark the 75 years of India’s Independence. The programme will conduct 75 Mahotsav events that will be held during 75 weeks across the country. The programme is aimed to showcase the glorious past and new development of the country and to pay
tribute to all freedom fighters including those who did not receive much attention in the history.
Prime Minister Modi will flag off re-enact of historic ‘Dandi March, which will joined by 81 Gandhian followers. They complete the 386 kilometres long march in 21 days on its original route from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi in South Gujarat. Patriotic songs, plays and dance performances will be organised during the Dandi March to highlight the socio-economic changes taking place in the field of cleanliness, environment, security and water conservation in India.
