Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Hyderabad, is slated to launch various development works worth Rs 2,400 crore related to South Central Railways. PM Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat Express train in Secunderabad on January 19.

The development works to be launched by the Prime Minister include the modernisation of Secunderabad railway station at a cost of Rs 700 crore, doubling of the railway line between Secunderabad and Mahabubnagar at a cost of Rs 1,231 crore and works on Kazipet railway coach workshop at a cost of Rs 521 crore.

After discussions with officials of the South Central Railways on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party's Telangana unit president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that he, along with other BJP members and Rajya Sabha member Dr K Laxman, visited the Secunderabad railway station to oversee arrangements ahead of the prime minister’s visit.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar claimed that PM Modi laid an uncompromising stand on protecting the interests of Telangana.

“The Central government has already taken up national highway development in the state at a cost of Rs 1.04 lakh crore, taking Telangana to the No. 2

position in the country,” he said.

Similarly, the Centre has sanctioned several railway projects in the state, including the doubling of railway lines, MMTS and gauge conversion projects in a big way, the BJP leader said.

“On January 19, the prime minister will come to the state to formally flag off the Vande Bharat Express train from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam, which will reduce the travelling time between the two stations by three and a half hours,” he said.

While laying the foundation stone for the modernisation of the Secunderabad railway station by international standards at a cost of Rs 700 crore, PM Modi would also start Kazipet railway coach overhauling workshop works through remote control, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said.

He said that the road network between villages and towns was developed under PM Sadak Yojana. The PM Modi government has also taken up the river-linkage project in Telangana, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said.

“I hope these programmes will be an eye-opener for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders who have launched false propaganda against the Centre and the prime minister,” the BJP state president said.
