PM Modi to Inaugurate India's Longest Cable Bridge in Gujarat

Wrapping up the last leg of campaigning in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Gujarat on Tuesday for a two-day visit. During his stay in Gujarat, the PM will inaugurate a four-lane bridge over the river Narmada in Bharuch.

The 1.4-kilometre 'extradosed' cable-stayed bridge is reportedly the longest in the country. It is expected to ease traffic woes on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway, considered to be one of the busiest in India.

The Prime Minister took to Twitter on Monday night to announce the agenda of his trip.

During the visit, Modi will inaugurate a national convention of women sarpanch, and address an industry meet of OPAL project of ONGC in Dahej.

The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering



in Bharuch and lay a foundation stone for a bus port in the town.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will host Modi for dinner at his residence in Gandhinagar. The Prime Minister will stay the night at the Raj Bhavan there.

On the second day of his visit, Modi will be flown to Somnath temple, where he will offer special prayers and attend a meeting of the Somnath Temple Trust.

Modi is a trustee of the temple trust, of which former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel is the president. BJP president Amit Shah and senior party leader LK Advani, also trustees, will attend the meeting.

In the last few months, Modi has paid a number of visits to his home state where the assembly elections are scheduled to be held by the end of this year.
