Prime Minister Narendra Modi will Inaugurate Kochi Metro today. Mr Modi will cut the ribbon at Palarivattom station from where he will travel to Pathadippalam station. Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and E Sreedharan popularly known as Metro man will also travel with the Prime Minister. The inaugural ceremony will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium premises.
After that he will inaugurate the P.N. Panicker Memorial Reading Month celebrations at St. Theresa’s college. Before leaving Kochi, Mr Modi will also hold a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Mr Pinarayi Vijayan and others at the
Airport.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today enjoy a ride on Kochi Metro. Inauguration of a world-class metro system in the city By the Prime Minister would enhance the quality of life for the Greater Kochi metro area. The Kochi Metro services will start its Revenue operations from Monday. The trains will start from Aluva and Palarivattom from 6 AM simultaneously and finish the day's ride at 10 PM at Aluva. There will be 219 trips between this period and the headway will be 8 minutes 20 seconds. The 13 km stretch Metro will improve the regional connectivity and reduce overcrowding, traffic congestion, transit time, air and noise pollution.
