PM Modi to inaugurate Tata military aircraft manufacturing hub in Vadodara

India will get its first military aircraft manufacturing unit in Gujarat's Vadodara, on Monday (October 28) when Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez inaugurate the Tata Aircraft Complex for C-295 aircraft production.

The private Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft marks a significant milestone in India’s "Make in India" defence vision.

Fifty-six aircraft were planned under the C-295 programme, which was approved in February this year, with 16 will be delivered directly by Airbus in Spain. The remaining 40 will be produced in India at the Tata Advanced Systems Limited



(TASL).

The Vadodara facility will oversee the entire process of 40 military aircraft production, from assembly and testing to delivery and maintenance.

Besides Tata, defence public sector majors like Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd., along with private MSMEs, will contribute to creating a comprehensive ecosystem for military aircraft production in India.

Following the inauguration, PM Modi will visit the Laxmi Vilas Palace and then proceed to Amreli, where he is set to inaugurate the Bharat Mata Sarovar at 2.45 pm. He will also lay the foundation for development projects valued at over Rs 4,800 crore in the district.
