Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a scheme for the transformation of ‘Aspirational Districts’ from Jangala village in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh today.

Bijapur is among 115 poorest districts in the country which have been selected on the basis of their poor indicators in the field of education, health, basic infrastructure and financial inclusion.

In January this year, Niti Aayog had identified 115 aspirational districts which occupy the bottom of the list of the districts in the country. The Prime Minister would also launch the first of 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres, planned under Ayushman Bharat Yojna.

During his visit to Chhattisgarh today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Health and Wellness Centre under Ayushman Bharat scheme in Jangala village of



Maoist affected Bijapur district. This health and wellness centre will have the facility of tele-consultation.

Ayushman Bharat scheme aims to take health care to the next level by setting up health and wellness centres and then cover the primary, secondary healthcare and the tertiary care. Under this scheme, 1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centres will bring health care system closer to the homes of people.

These centres will provide comprehensive health care, including for non-communicable diseases and maternal and child health services. These centres will also provide free essential drugs and diagnostic services.

Another component of Ayushman Bharat scheme is health insurance cover of Rs five lakh to almost 10 crore poor families.
