Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Bangkok today on a three-day visit to Thailand. During his visit, Prime Minister will attend the 16th ASEAN-India summit, 14th East Asia Summit and 3rd Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) summit and related events. Secretary East Vijay Thakur Singh told media persons that Mr Modi is visiting Bangkok at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

In his first engagement, Prime Minister Modi will address Indian community at the national Indoor Stadium in Bangkok today. During the event, Mr Modi will release the commemorative coin marking the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and Thai translation of Tamil classic

Prime Minister will participate in India-ASEAN summit tomorrow. Strengthening ASEAN and ASEAN-led mechanism, enhancing connectivity, deepening economic partnership, enhancing cooperation in the digital domain including cyber-security are the key agenda of the India-ASEAN summit this year.

Negotiations for resolving outstanding issues on RCEP are going on in Bangkok and the leaders will review the state of negotiations at the summit. The RCEP bloc comprises 10 ASEAN group members - Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam and their six FTA partners - India, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
