New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto in New Delhi yesterday. Five Memorandums of Understanding were exchanged following the discussions in a number of areas, including sports, IT, and education.
Addressing the press meet with President Ruto, Mr Modi noted that there is steady progress in mutual trade and investment between India and Kenya. He said both nations will continue to explore new opportunities to realize the full potential of economic cooperation. He expressed happiness that Kenya has decided to join the Global Biofuels Alliance and the International Solar Alliance.
He added that Kenya's decision to join the International Big Cat Alliance will enable the strengthening
of global efforts for the conservation of big cats.
Prime Minister said India and Kenya are unanimous that terrorism is the most serious challenge to humanity. Both nations have decided to increase mutual cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism.
Mr Modi said Africa has been a topmost priority in India's foreign policy. He added that in the past decade, India has worked to build cooperation with Africa in a mission mode. He expressed hope that this visit will aid in further fostering ties and engagements with Kenya and Africa. Prime Minister said this year marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Kenya. He pointed out that India Kenya ties date back to thousand of years.
