Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tributes to the great freedom fighters Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Chandrashekhar Azad on their birth anniversary.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to them on their birth anniversary. In a series of tweets, Mr Shah said, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak gave a new direction to India struggling for freedom with his thinking. He connected the people of the country to the struggle of freedom by giving the slogan "Swaraj is my birth right and I shall have it" and it gradually became the thinking of the whole of
India.
He said, Lokmanya Tilak made important issues like the use of Swadeshi, Education and Swaraj as his base. Mr Shah said, his ideal life, struggle and patriotism still ignite the spirit of nationalism in the minds of all Indians. Paying tribute, Mr Shah said, the name of the great freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad is synonymous with bravery, patriotism and sacrifice.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar also paid tributes to the great leaders of India's freedom struggle.
