Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Integrated Check Post (ICP) of the Kartarpur Corridor at Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, Punjab today. Prime Minister will attend a public meeting at Dera Baba Nanak.

The inauguration of the ICP will facilitate, Indian pilgrims to visit Gurudwara Kartapur Sahib in Pakistan. India has signed the agreement with Pakistan on the 24th of last month on the modalities for operationalization of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor at Zero Point, International Boundary, Dera Baba Nanak.

Union Cabinet had passed a resolution in November last year to celebrate the historic occasion of 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji in a grand and befitting manner, throughout the country and across the globe. 

Union Cabinet also approved the building and development of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to the International Boundary to facilitate pilgrims from India to



visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur around the year, in a smooth and easy manner.

Prior to the event, Mr Modi will pay obeisance at the Ber Sahib Gurudwara in Sultanpur Lodhi this morning. Ber Sahib Gurudwara is the place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent more than 14 years of his life and attained enlightenment. He gave the message of humanity and universal brotherhood from this holy place.

In view of the ongoing celebrations to mark 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Sultanpur Lodhi Railway Station has been upgraded with all the modern amenities. General Manager, Northern Railway TP Singh said, passenger amenities have been improved and tents have been erected near station premises to accommodate the crowd. He also said, Culture Ministry has put up a photo exhibition in the station and is also showcasing a short film describing the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
