Polling begins for by-elections in six Zilla Parishads in Maharashtra

Mumbai: In Maharashtra, polling for By-Elections of 85 constituencies of six Zilla Parishads and 144 constituencies of Panchayat Samitis has begun from 7.30 A.M. today and will go till 5.30 P.M. The polls are being held in Dhule, Nandurbar, Akola, Washim, Nagpur and Palghar Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis in these districts. Counting of votes will be taken up tomorrow.

In Palghar district, 74 candidates are in the fray for the By-Elections for 15 Zilla Parishad groups and 70 candidates for 14 Panchayat Samiti seats. In all, 626 Polling Stations have been set up in the district and about 3,455 officers and staff members have been deputed for the polling process.

In Nagpur district,



79 candidates are in the fray for 16 Zilla Parishad groups and 125 candidates for 31 constituencies of Panchayat Samitis. In Nagpur, the polling will be held at 1,115 Polling Stations, 863 in rural areas and 252 in urban areas.

In Washim district, voting will take place for 14 Zilla Parishad groups and 27 constituencies of Panchayat Samitis. A total of 103 Polling Stations have been set up for the by-elections and adequate police security has been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents.

In Akola district, 68 candidates are in the fray for 14 Zilla Parishad groups and 119 candidates for 24 Panchayat Samiti constituencies.
