In Gujarat, polling for six municipal corporations including Ahmedabad conducted peacefully. State Election Commission informed that 45.64 percent voter turnout was recorded in the six municipal corporation elections.
Counting of votes will be held on 23rd of this month. Polling was conducted for 575 seats of six municipal Corporations namely Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar. Along with the by-polls for two seats of Junagadh Municipal
Corporation was also held yesterday. Total 2 thousand 276 candidates were in fray. Voter turnout was highest in Jamnagar which was 53.64 percent while Ahmedabad recorded 42. 61 percent turnout which was lowest in the state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah cast his vote in Naranpura ward of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani along with his family cast vote for Rajkot Municipal Corporation.
