In Uttar Pradesh, polling started peacefully at the 28,688 polling booths across the 14 Lok Sabha seats this morning. In the wake of the heat wave alert, many arrangements have been made by the administration and the Election Commission in the state capital, Lucknow.
Arrangement of buttermilk, water, shades and tents is there to beat the heat and increase the vote percentage. This time model polling stations have been set up in club houses of major residential complexes allowing residence to vote within their premises. Private vehicles would be permitted within 100m of polling station for easy access. The RTO of Lucknow has arranged e rickshaws to facilitate transport for elderly, pregnant women and
disabled.
The Lucknow development authority has decided to honour resident welfare associations of the colonies and high-rise societies that achieve high participation rate. Municipal commissioner of Lucknow Inderjeet Singh told that many arrangements have been made at the booths including basic amenities like toilets seating arrangements at each polling centre to ensure a smooth voting experience.
Voters now have access to all information about that holding station location voter list and slips via dedicated website www.boothlocation.in. Special messages are being sent to the women and elderly people to invite them to their polling station when the queue is short.
