Polling is progressing smoothly for fourth phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Voting, which started at 7 this morning, will end at 6 PM. In view of Corona pandemic, Election Commission has extended the poll timing by one hour in all Assembly Constituencies. About 9.10 percent voter turnout was recorded till 9 AM.    

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today is the fourth phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In a tweet, he requested all the voters to make their contribution in strengthening the democracy by casting their valuable votes.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has urged all eligible voters to come out of their homes and vote in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In a tweet, he said



every vote is invaluable and their vote will help in keeping the state riot free, mafia free and fear-free.

Voting is taking place for 59 Assembly Constituencies spread over 9 districts in this phase. These districts are Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Lucknow, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur and Banda.

The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is being used along with Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at every Polling Station.

In view of the prevailing pandemic, Election Commission has laid focus on COVID-safe elections with maximum participation. The Commission has decided to allow maximum 1,250 electors at a Polling Station instead of earlier stipulation of 1,500 electors.
