The Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), which provides access to institutional finance to small business units, has helped in creating 5.5 crore jobs.
According to a report, industrialised states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have been the biggest beneficiaries of the PMMY.The report by a think tank SKOCH said in New Delhi today that ,so far, Rs 3.42 lakh crore loan has been disbursed to over 8 crore people under the scheme, mostly small entrepreneurs.
The MUDRA scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8, 2015 with an objective to fund the unfunded.
MUDRA loan is available for non-agricultural activities for up to Rs 10 lakh. Activities allied to agriculture, such as dairy, poultry, bee-keeping etc, are also covered.Agriculture Ministry is working sincerely to fulfill PM's dream to double farmers income: Radha Mohan Singh.
Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has said his Ministry is working sincerely to fulfill Prime Minister’s dream to double farmers income by 2022. He said, a large number of official and farmers have been taking a pledge at events organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendras since 16th of last month.
Mr Singh said, improving irrigation efficiency is important and government has increased irrigation budget in this connection. The
Minister said, Pradhan Mantri Krichi Sinchai Yojna has been launched to ensure water to every farm. Pending medium and large projects have been expedited.
Watershed development and water harvesting and management projects have been put on the fast track. Introduction of Soil Health Card Scheme to inform farmers about nutrients status of the soils is reducing the cultivation cost and farmers are making balanced use of fertilizers. The government is also encouraging organic farming.
To protect farmers from losses, the government is focusing on storage facilities and integrated cold chains in rural areas. Farmers are being encouraged to use warehouses and avoid distressed sales. 455 mandis have been linked to e-NAM platform and online trading has begun on various mandis.
The government has started Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to reduce the possible risks. The scheme creates a security shield and covers standing crops as well as pre-sowing to post-harvesting losses. The government is also focussing on allied horticulture, white revolution, blue revolution and bee keeping.
Sub Mission on Agro-forestry has been initiated to promote inter cropping. Supplementary income and nutritional support are provided to poultry farmers under rural backyard poultry development.
