Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has greeted people on World Environment Day today.
In a tweet, Mr Javadekar said, the theme of this year is biodiversity and people of India are proud of their rich biodiversity. He called upon people to do something environment-friendly today. He urged people to plant a tree and ensure its growth wherever possible. He said it will create an oxygen bank for life.
The Minister
said, this is how people can grow the tree cover and create additional carbon sink. He said, people need to save water, recycle water and harvest water so that they will never have any dearth of water resources any time in future. Mr Javadekar said, everyone must save electricity and generate electricity through solar or wind and also use efficient electrical lights, LED lights for saving electricity and switch off the plugs whenever they go out.
