Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar will launch Students for soldiers- a nationwide Vidya - Veerta Abhiyan today to encourage Universities to display portraits of Param Veer Chakra-decorated soldiers.
The aim of this Abhiyan is to instill a sense of patriotism and nationalism among students. The Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre, two Param Veer Chakra Vijeta Soldiers Rifleman Sanjay Kumar and Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav will also attend the function.

Abhiyan to create walls of heroes - displaying the portraits of the heroes in institutions of higher learning.
The Minister will unveil the portraits of Param Veer Chakra decorated-soldiers at a function in New Delhi. Vice Chancellors from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, Jamia Milia Islamia, Jammu and IIT Delhi, among others, will receive the portraits from the Minister to put it in their educational institutions.
The initiative came in the wake of demand by the ex-servicemen that portraits of martyrs and tanks used in wars should be put on display in the campus to instill sense of nationalism and patriotism among the students.
