President Pranab Mukherjee will give away awards to children today for their exceptional achievements on the Children’s day which is celebrated on November 14th every year on the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
The awards are given in two categories- Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award to individuals and National Award for Child Welfare to institutions and individuals.Five institutions and three individuals are being given the National Award for Child Welfare, 2015, which



includes cash prize of three lakh rupees to each institution and one lakh rupees to individual. 
Three individuals are being awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award, 2016, which include cash prize of one lakh rupees.The National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement, 2016 include One Gold Medal and 30 Silver Medals.
A cheque of twenty thousand rupees will be given to Gold Medalist and ten thousand rupees will be given to each Silver Medalist in the age group of 5 to 18 years.
