President Draupadi Murmu said that equal participation of women is necessary to empower the country. She said that equal participation of both men and women is necessary for running the family. Similarly, for the economic and social development of the country, equal cooperation of both men and women is required. The President was addressing the 'Lakhpati Didi sammelan' yesterday at Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur district of Rajasthan.
The President said that education and skill development among women should be promoted. By doing this, women can become equal partners in the progress of the country and the world. Discussing the change brought about in the lives of women through self-help groups, the President said that self-help groups not only work in providing working capital, but they are also doing commendable work in creating human capital and social capital.
The President said that the tribal community has presented many good examples of self-governance. People from other sections of the society can learn many good things from the
tribes. The President said that the entire world is facing many problems like climate change and global warming and in such a situation, it can learn from the tribals how life can be lived in efficient harmony with nature.
The President said that the development of tribal citizens is being ensured through the 'Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana'. Work is being done rapidly for construction of water and road infrastructure in tribal areas. The President visited the stalls of products prepared by Self help groups. She also distributed loans worth 250 crore rupees to women and cheques worth 50 crore rupees under 'Mahila Nidhi'. The program was also addressed by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Bhajan Lal Sharma, State Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Kirori Lal Meena, State Tribal Development Minister Babu Lal Kharadi and many other dignitaries. Earlier, President Murmu had darshan and offered prayers at the Harimandir located in Sabala village near Beneshwar Dham.
