President Droupadi Murmu yesterday inaugurated two important and prestigious projects at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan in the Trikuta Hills in Reasi district.

The President landed at the VIP helipad near Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan and she was accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha where the CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Anshul Garg received the President. President Murmu inaugurated the Skywalk and re-modelled Parvati Bhawan, which had been constructed at the Bhawan.

The Skywalk will make the journey of pilgrims very smooth as the pilgrims' proceedings to the Bhawan and returning after darshan will have separate routes, thus, avoiding any kind of collision which was reported to be responsible for December 31, 2021, tragedy in which 12 pilgrims were killed and 16 others were injured in stampede.

The Skywalk proposal was conceived after the tragedy as it will bifurcate incoming and outgoing pilgrims at the Bhawan and the yatris will proceed to the Bhawan from Skywalk and return from the existing route. The Skywalk is equipped with most modernized facilities.

President Murmu also inaugurated the Parvati Bhawan which has

facilities of 1500 lockers that help nearly 10 to 15 thousand pilgrims every day to deposit their luggage, take bath, and proceed to the cave shrine through Skywalk and return and one floor each exclusively for men and women washrooms. The President also offered prayers and paid obeisance to the Goddess Vaishno Devi in the Cave Shrine.

President, Draupadi Murmu, day before yesterday addressed the 20th Convocation of Kashmir University and presented medals and degrees to the scholars of the varsity.

She said that it was a matter of pride that around 55 percent of enrolled students at Kashmir University were girls. She urged the youth to adopt the path of development and discipline for the holistic growth of the nation. The President also said that sustainable developmental education is a priority in a place like Jammu and Kashmir as it rests in the Himalayan ecosystem and said that apart from academics, the youth of the country must take up social services for the greater good of the country in general and humanity in particular. The President also visited the Army's 15 Corps Headquarters in Srinagar where she laid a wreath at the War Memorial.
