President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the Gaj Utsav at Kaziranga today on the second day of her visit to Assam. The two-day-long event is being organized to celebrate the 30 years completion of elephant conservation in India.
President undertook a jeep safari at Kohora in the Kaziranga national park this morning. Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Environment and Forest Minister Bhupendra Yadav will also attend the event.
Later in the day, President Murmu will reach Guwahati to attend the platinum jubilee celebration of the Gauhati high court as the chief guest.

government organize the Gaj Utsav 2023 at the world heritage site Kaziranga National Park to celebrate the 30 years of success of the Project Elephant’s.
India has around 60 percent of the world’s Asian elephant population with an estimated figure of over 32 thousand elephants. The Project Elephant was started in 1991-92 to protect elephants, their habitat and corridors.
Another aim of the project is to address the human-elephant conflict.
The two-day Gaj Utsav will provide a common platform to all elephant-dominated states, experts and NGOs. Seminars on elephant conservation are also being organized during the Gaj Utsav.
