The festival of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated in the country today. It is observed on the full moon day of the traditional Indian luni-solar calendar month of Shravana to remember the love and duty between brothers and sisters.
On the occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Hamid Ansari & Prime Minister Narendra Modi have extended their greetings to the citizens.The President said, this unique festival celebrates the sacred bond of commitment between sisters and brothers. Mr Kovind said, the day is an occasion for all of us to renew the spirit of fraternity among the citizens of India.
The Vice president greeting the people said this festival reaffirms the strong bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters in our
society. He said, it upholds the high place traditionally accorded to women in Indian society. Mr Ansari said, let us rededicate ourselves to upholding the dignity and respect of women in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. In a tweet message, Mr Modi offered his good wishes to the people of the country this morning on the occasion of the Holy festival.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated not only in the country but in other parts of the world also. Symbolizing their love Sisters will today tie the sacred thread on their brother's wrist with a prayer for his prosperity and happiness. On other hand the brother gives her a token gift and a promise to protect her.
