President Ram Nath Kovind will be the chief guest at the third convocation of the Central University of Gujarat (CUG) at Gandhinagar today. The President will handover degrees to 73 PhD and 26 MPhil scholars, 121 post-graduate and 24 undergraduate students during the convocation ceremony. Twenty-one meritorious students will also be awarded medals at the function.
The CUG was established by Parliament through the Central Universities Act 2009. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will also attend the convocation ceremony.
Mr Kovind will also inaugurate the Motera Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad tomorrow in the presence of Home Minister Amit
Shah.
Sardar Patel Motera Stadium will soon become the top and the largest cricket stadium in the world. Located in Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, the Motera Stadium is equipped with new decorations and the latest facilities for the 3rd Test match between India and England. The Stadium is spread over 63 acres, with a seating capacity of 1 lakh 10 thousand people.
Currently Melbourne is the largest cricket stadium in the world. It can accommodate 90 thousand people simultaneously. The Motera Stadium houses 76 corporate boxes, olympic level swimming pool, indoor academy, four dressing rooms for athletes, and food courts.
