New Delhi: President and Vice President have greeted the countrymen on the occasion of Onam, especially the people of Kerala. In her message, President Droupadi Murmu said, Onam is an occasion to respect the hard work of farmers and to express the gratitude towards Mother Nature. She said, the people of Kerala have preserved their rich cultural heritage.
Ms Murmu said, this festival is also an opportunity to promote mutual cooperation and harmony. The President has asked people to work unitedly and
contribute in making India a prosperous and glorious nation.
In his message, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said, the festival is celebrated to honour the memory of King Mahabali, which symbolises the high values of honesty, compassion and sacrifice. He said, it is also an occasion to celebrate mother nature’s bounty in the form of new crops in the fields. Mr Dhankhar hoped that the spirit of Onam will bring peace, prosperity and happiness in everyone’s lives.
