Prevailing flood condition paralyses normal life in Bihar

In Bihar, normal life has been paralysed in prevailing flood condition in 11 districts of the state.

 

The worst-affected districts are Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Supaul and West Champaran.

 

About 25 lakh people spread over 765 Panchayats are reeling under the impact of flood.

 

Over one lakh 60 thousand people have been evacuated so far.

 

29 relief camps have been set up for affected people.

 

Three helicopters of Indian Air Force dropped the dry food packets on the third consecutive day today to the marooned people.

 

Presently, 25 teams of NDRF and



SDRF are carrying out relief and rescue operations.

 

Vehicular traffic on Darbhanga - Jainagar and Darbhanga - Samastipur roads has been halted as the roads are covered with heavy sheet of water.

 

Rail traffic on Darbhang -Samastipur and Muzaffarpur - Narkatiaganj section of East Central Railway remained suspended on the fourth consecutive today due to overtopping of rail tracks at several places.

 

Gandak, Bagmati and Adhwara group of rivers are flowing above danger mark.

 

Met Department predicts heavy rainfall in catchment areas of Nepal and northern parts of the state.
