President Ram Nath Kovind will preside over the second meeting of the Organising Committee on the celebrations for the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi today.
Portugese Prime Minister Antonio Costa will also attend the meeting. He will arrive in the national capital today, on a working visit. The Government is commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation both at the national and the international level to propagate his message.
The National Committee headed by the President has been
constituted for the purpose. The Committee includes the Vice-President, the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers of all States, representatives from across the political spectrum, Gandhians, thinkers, and eminent persons from all walks of life.
The Committee also has nine international members, including two former Secretary-General of the United Nations - Ban Ki-Moon. The first meeting resolved to set up a smaller Executive Committee headed by the Prime Minister, to take forward commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji.
