President Droupadi Murmu said yesterday that the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna’ are important steps toward building an inclusive and prosperous society and the country. Addressing a gathering of beneficiaries of these schemes of the Government of Maharashtra in Udgir, she expressed her happiness at seeing women in Maharashtra becoming self-reliant through various schemes of the central and state governments.

The President commended the Maharashtra government for promoting financial literacy, skill development, and livelihood opportunities for women, as well as for its efforts in ensuring transparent and accountable governance by delivering basic services

directly to citizens, thus minimising their need to visit government offices.

The President also acknowledged the success of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, which has enabled around one crore women across the country to become “Lakhpati Didis,” thereby boosting their self-confidence, awareness, and a renewed sense of empowerment.

Before attending this event, President Murmu inaugurated a Buddha Vihar with a Meditation Centre in Udgir and paid tribute to the statue of Bhagwan Buddha. During the final phase of her three-day visit to Maharashtra, she also offered prayers at the Shri Takht Sachkhand Huzur Sahib Gurdwara in Nanded.
