In Kerala, the first ever Gender Park in the country to promote research and other initiatives to enable total gender equality will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee at Kozhikode on Saturday. The park has come up on a 24-acre campus. It is an initiative of the Department of Social Justice of the State government to bring together the state, academia and civil society on a common platform to address various gender issues. The Park authorities said, the park will be the country's first large
scale initiative to create an environment to share global knowledge and experiences in reducing gender inequalities.
A Gender Institute at the park would focus on learning, research and capacity development, as part of supporting the efforts of the State and Central governments in ensuring an inclusive, discrimination free society. The Gender institute would cover issues pertaining to all three genders as per the 2015 gender and transgender policies of the State government.
