Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate second phase of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh in UP's Basti today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the second phase of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 in Basti District of Uttrar Pradesh at 1 pm today through video conferencing.

The Khel Mahakumbh organises diverse competitions in both indoor and outdoor sports like wrestling, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Chess, Badminton and Table Tennis. Apart from these, competitions in essay writing, painting, rangoli making are also organised.

Saansad Khel Mahakumbh is being organised in Basti by Lok Sabha MP from the constituency Harish Dwivedi since 2021.

The Saansad Khel Mahakumbh is being organised in two phases. The first phase was organised from 10th to 16th December last year and the second phase of the Khel Mahakumbh begins today and conclude on 28th



January.

Member of Parliament from Basti Harish Dwivedi said that while 3 lakh students and youth took part in the different competitions of Khel Maha Kumbh, around 60 to 70 thousand youth and players will take part in today's program.

Mr Dwivedi said that youth of the region are eager and excited to listen Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Khel Mahakumbh is a novel initiative that will provide opportunity and platform to the youth of Basti District and neighbouring areas to showcase their sporting talent.

It will motivate them to take sport as a career option. It also endeavours to inculcate the spirit of discipline, team work, healthy competition, self-confidence and nationalism among the youth of the region.
