New Delhi: The Virtual G20 Summit is going to be held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Briefing media on the Summit, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said this will be the second time that the Prime Minister will be hosting the Leaders of the G20 in a span of two and a half months. He said this demonstrates the power of India and the leadership of Mr Modi at the global level.
Mr Kant said that during the closing session of the New Delhi G20 Summit on 10th September, the Prime Minister had announced that India would be hosting a virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit prior to
the conclusion of India’s G20 Presidency. He said the Virtual Summit will take forward key outcomes and action points from the New Delhi Summit as well as review developments since then.
Replying to a media query, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said a large majority of G20 Leaders are expected to be present at the virtual Summit today.
India holds the G20 Presidency until the 30th of this month. The G20 Troika during the Brazilian G20 Presidency in 2024 will comprise India, Brazil, and South Africa.
