In Gujarat, the process of filing the nomination began yesterday for the second phase of assembly poll.
Meanwhile, all the political parties have expedited the selection process of the candidates as only four days are left to file the nomination for the first phase of assembly polls. BJP announced its first list of 160 candidates yesterday which includes 83 candidates for the first phase of assembly polls. The party has repeated 69 sitting MLAs while on 38 seats, young leaders have been introduced.
Former Congress leaders
who joined BJP ahead of polls have secured tickets including Hardik Patel, Ashwin Kotwal, Harshad Ribadia, Bhagwanbhai Barad, and Rajendra Singh Mohan Singh Rathwa. Meanwhile, AAM Aadmi party has issued another list of 10 candidates; with this the total number of candidates declared by AAP so far went to 180.
On the other hand, Congress is finalizing the second list of candidates for the assembly polls. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Bhavesh Katara who resigned from the party yesterday has joined BJP on Thursday.
