New Delhi: The Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2021, which seeks to enhance the legal minimum age of marriage of a girl from 18 to 21 across all religions was introduced in the Lok Sabha amid protests by the Opposition members yesterday. After the introduction of the Bill, it was sent to the Standing Committee of the



Parliament for further discussion and scrutiny.

Introducing the Bill in the House, the Women and Child Development Minister, Smriti Zubin Irani said, the Legislation will provide the right of equality to women across all religions and castes in marriages.
