Bangladesh-made Dhakai Jamdani sarees were set on fire by a group of protesters in West Bengal's Kolkata on Sunday mark their anger against the ongoing atrocities against Hindus in the neighbourning country.
The demonstration, spearheaded by the Bengali Hindu Suraksha Samiti, took place at the Salt Lake International Bus Terminus, where protesters also called for boycotting all Bangladeshi products. They also asserted that Indian's would not remain silent if attacks on Bangladesh's Hindu minority
continued.
Hundreds of people joined the different protest rallies organised by Hindu groups in Kolkata, Kanthi, Kakdwip, Sandeshkhali and Purulia, calling for the immediate release of Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das.
"We condemn the continuous targeting of Hindus in Bangladesh and the hate-driven narratives against India. We will not sit idle and with burning the Jamdani sarees, we urge people to boycott Bangladeshi products," said a protestor as quoted by news agency PTI.
