Chennai: Tamil Nadu Muslim League (TNML) on Tuesday filed a complaint against the PUBG game with the Chennai Commissioner demanding a ban on the game claiming it is hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslims.
The regional political party has argued that the new version of the popular mobile game has the model of the Kaaba in it and it is distracting the youngsters and hurting the Muslims sentiments.
In a long letter to the Commissioner, the TNML wrote that the new version of the PUBG game has a model of Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam, which the Muslim community finds offensive. The party further wrote that this particular model is
distracting the young generation and also affecting the sentiments of the Muslims. They rounded up the complaint demanding an immediate ban on the mobile game.
Tencent Game, the developers of PUBG, last week rolled out an update on the occasion of their one-year anniversary. The update had a birthday crate which had the Kaaba among other items. Tencent's update has infuriated the Muslims in various regions across the globe which has resulted in many online campaigns demanding a ban on the game.
Taking cognisance of the rising complaints, the PUBG developers quickly moderated the birthday crate and issued an apology through their official twitter handle.
