Puducherry airport is abuzz with activity as preparations are in full swing to resume flight services to Bengaluru and Hyderabad from 20th of December. The airport has been without flight operations for the past eight months after SpiceJet discontinued its services on March 30. In response to the inconvenience faced by passengers, the Puducherry government initiated discussions with IndiGo Airlines to restore air connectivity.
Puducherry Airport Director Rajasekhar Reddy said that all the formalities with airline operators are completed.
Indigo is going to launch their scheduled flight operations from Puducherry airport from December 20, 2024. For which, we have completed all the formalities with airline operators including agreement of land, allotting of ticketing counters. We are ready for the operations to commence from Puducherry airport. First flight will depart from Bengaluru at 11:10 AM and arrive in Puducherry at 12:20 PM. They will then leave Puducherry at
12:40 PM and reach Hyderabad by 2:30 PM.
The return flight from Hyderabad will take off at 3:05 PM, arriving in Puducherry at 4:50 PM, before departing again at 5:10 PM to reach Bengaluru by 6:35 PM. Ticket Price will be around Rs. 3000 for both destinations. As it is dynamic pricing it will keep changing.
Earlier Spice Jet were operating in RCS route. Now Indigo is operating in normal route. Regarding passenger facilities, we have awarded for essential services like snacks bar, car rental services and information desk of Puducherry tourism. Once scheduled flight commences other essential services will be also provided.
With the festive season approaching, the resumption of flight services is expected to significantly boost tourism revenue in the union territory. Further expansion plans for airport facilities are also in the pipeline, contingent on increased demand from passengers and growing air traffic.
